Monsoon Tea is among my favorite places to visit in Chiang Mai- the tea is of exceptional quality, and the food is unlike any other. In particular I️ recommend the “Deep Fried Chicken with Fermented Tea Paste”, whose flavor is unparalleled.
Going beyond the tea, however, truly it is the company ethos which is so special. The desire to cultivate tea utilizing a method which is sustainable and unique, and using the lower leaves to create Miang (a fermented tea leaf), which is used in the preparation of many of the restaurants dishes, sets Monsoon Tea apart from any other tea house I️ have ever visited.
The founder Kenneth is present, and happy to talk about their mission, as well as Ryan, one of the business partners, with whom I️ spoke about tea and life in Thailand for several hours. Monsoon Tea is truly a special place, and I️ left feeling far happier than I️ would have been if I️ had not made a visit.
All things considered, the space is nothing short of exceptional, and I️ will be dreaming of returning when I️ make my way back home to Colorado.
Amazing!!! We had a wonderful time sipping tea at the Nimman Road location, and we loved the teas we sampled and bought so much that we went to their cafe location the following day for a delicious lunch. We can't recommend the fried chicken with fermented tea paste enough. We will be back!
This place has a chilled ambience, a fantastic selection of wonderful teas, and really creative and delicious food - often with tea leaves involved in some way. Delightful staff too :) Highly recommend.
