Personally I think this is the best Italian Restaurant in Chiang Mai. Only downside for some people is that it is located a way out of the city. On the other hand it is located where many expats live.
The atmosphere and the food makes you forget the trip. I'm a big fan of his Italian sausage in the red wine sauce, very delicious dish. Everything I have eaten there is topnotch quality.
The restaurant has very friendly staff and Matteo the owner is a cool guy and a very good passionate cook.
The restaurant is tucked away in a small soi and it's just like you walk into someone's house. Very cozy and laid back music.
One of Chiang Mai's gems that serves the finest Italian cuisine I've had in all of Thailand. Throughout the entire meal the owner and staff were incredibly welcoming and hospitable. The service and food are equally impeccable, all carried out in a very comfortable atmosphere. Wonderful mozzarella, fantastic pasta, and delicious homemade sausage! I'll definitely be coming back again soon to try out some of their other specialties and desserts.
Definitely one of the top Italian pasta in Chiang Mai, the owner is very friendly and everything is homemade & fresh. He puts a lot of love in his food and you can taste the difference on your first visit ;-) Totally worth the drive to Hang Dong!

Im not a fan of cheese, but the caprese with a fresh made mozzarella cheese is the best. The main dish that i ordered is pasta with cream sauce top with huge prawns and mushrooms. when everything is fresh made and cook with the soul what else would you ask for
Really can’t fault anything about Pasta e Basta. Must have is the homemade Italian Sausage, the homemade bread, the homemade mozzarella and of course the homemade Pasta. Add in the fantastic hospitality of Matteo the owner and it’s 5* all the way

Well, It was warm welcome from the owner, he told us that he made pasta and cheese himself. It was fantastic homemade pasta in Chiangmai, I do like the texture of fresh pasta and cant wait to go back once. Highly recommend to everyone in Chiangmai.
Had the gnocchi with bolognese it was delicious. I have had it several times and it is Very consistent . The caprese was fresh and tasty, The bread and sausages are very good too. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. Highly Recomended.

Matteo is so passionate about Italian cuisine that he won't consider short-cuts, even if it means making a profit or pulling in more customers (who don't know better). Buying ready-made supplies to save hours of back-breaking work? No way. At Matteo's place when he says hand/home-made.... you can taste it in every mouthful.

Fantastico ristorante Italiano a Chiang Mai, PASTA E BASTA non delude mai. Locale carinissimo molto pulito, accogliente, l'ospitalità del proprietario e del personale ti fa sentire a casa. Se vuoi assaggiare la miglior pasta fresca fatta giornalmente dal proprietario lo chef Matteo non puoi non andare da PASTA E BASTA, che dire poi della mozzarella della salsiccia e del pane fresco tutto preparato da Matteo, fantastico è dire poco, complimenti Matteo.
