(ต้นฉบับ) Foodie sense tells me to go for a popular restaurant off the main road (non-tourist traps) that has a good crowd comprising of locals and not just tourist. In fact this place is filled with regulars - always a good sign. Happened to find this place recommended by Korean bloggers (they are a discerning lot). This is the newer 2nd branch of the popular Song Pee Nong which is not too far away. Prices are fair. Ordered small seafood Pad Thai (THB80 this was tasty. Legit!), morning glory (THB80) and the highly recommended fried shrimp w/ garlic & pepper (THB250 item 142) at main branch. The food was authentically Thai (go for the Thai dishes rather than the Western menu). It’s the go to place in Patong if you want good tasting, honest Thai cooking away from the touristy traps. PS This meal was so good we came back to the same restaurant again for lunch (we seldom repeat restaurants 2 days in a row while on holiday). This time we had the som tum (papaya salad), the prawn in yellow curry & the lala (clams). All superb. The lala was especially tasty, plump & fresh!
