On our last night of our Thailand trip, we wanted something different, well from Thai food! Chef Bar is in the heart of downtown Bangkok, but it's small...teeny tiny. Why is that important to note, because I was shocked. All the reviews were so great, I was expecting this huge establishment....NOPE! It's a tiny shop (think food truck size) with just 3 tables and a bar. You see your food being made, you talk to the chef. It's very intimate and personal. He tells you the specials because there's no where to write them because the menu board is full. The burger was cooked perfectly. Be ready to take on some new flavors though! These aren't regular burgers. My burger had blue cheese creme fraiche, frittata and pulled pork.... and then my burger!!! I didn't think it would taste good, but I had learned on this trip to try new things....and it was awesome. During dinner we chatted with the chef and owner as well as a regular. It was just what we needed to close out our trip!
Well, what can I say? It has been hard to reach back for comparisons throughout my life of eating burgers. From home-made to high end, New York to Seattle, I have never had a better burger then the dry aged Angus trio burger at Chef Bar. We happened on this small spot by chance. Only enough room to seat maybe 11-15 people, chef Roland prepares everything himself with care. Burgers, meat pies, fresh chips, steaks and craft beers, everything impresses nothing dissapoints. Do yourself a favor and eat here if you have the opportunity.
We had a 50 days dry aged Robbins Island Wagyu Burger - that special variety is not on the standard menu, it is word of mouth, whenever it is available but every burger uses Robbins Island Wagyu meat and is delicious. In fact this was the best burger I ever had in Bangkok. The owner of this tiny restaurant is very nice and always in a good mood, it was nice to have a chat with him while he was busy preparing the burgers.
Fantastic food, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Authentic with no pretentiousness which is refreshing. Burger was the best I had in Bangkok. Aussie ground meat cooked just right and home cut chips with homemade seasoning and ketchup. Will definitely be going back.
Juicy burgers...Probably best quality burgers in Bangkok. So yummy!
Had the awesomely good LAMB BURGER at Chef Bar tonight. The taste and texture of the burgers never disappoint here.
